I struggled throughout my education at a young age, but I now have:
- 9 GCSEs
- 3 A-Levels; and a
- Bachelors Degree
I don’t regret any of it – wish I tried harder in school but unfortunately for me, I was never any good at exams. I would just about manage to pass! Coursework however, I loved it and got the Distinctions.. A huge difference which teachers, parents or even examiners don’t notice or care about.
People always tell me that Certificates and Education always look good on your CV, even though I have the above I am still struggling to find a career. So I decided to take extra Education – Yay!
Shaw Academy is an online webinar for loads of different courses! My mum is the one who got me started, she completed her nutrition course (for her Childcare career) and basically forced me to do something with my spare time. I signed up to four courses:
- Social Media Marketing
- Advanced Social Media Marketing
- Word Press
All topics that are relevant or of interest to me. I figured they are all online evening courses, how hard could it be!
I’ve realised I haven’t done any of the webinars in the evening, I spend that time with the boyfriend, family or friends. So I’ve been watching the recordings instead of being in the live webinar which really isn’t that bad! It’s a lot more interesting than the lectures I want to at University – I don’t fall asleep through these webinars, I might get a little distracted from time to time though.
At the end of the day, you come out with a Diploma for each course you complete. After each webinar there is an assessment – I’ve done 3 now for Social Media Marketing and it’s not too bad, some of them are a little difficult but you have your own notes from the webinar and you have summary pages from the ‘teacher’ to help. The assessments are also revision tools, just to see how much you’ve taken in! Doesn’t count towards your final grade which I’ve just found out thankfully!
I know that there are plenty courses to do in the world and I have no idea if this will be worth it – I’m hoping one day I will find out!
I’d like to know if you’ve ever found education hard? Through school life, University or are you taking extra courses too?! Would you recommend any courses that you’ve really enjoyed or found helpful? I love hearing advice and other peoples stories so please get in touch!
Hope you enjoy the rest of your day!
